The Pleiades, a relatively youthful group of approximately 500 tightly clustered stars, are also known as The Seven Sisters, Messier 45, and M45. Although in the past they have been considered a constellation in and of themselves, today they are classified as an open, nebulous stellar group in the constellation of Taurus, the Bull. Recent data measurements indicate that the Pleiades are around 100 million years old and about 380 light years from Earth. Over the ages, many Cultures and nearly every culture had names, myths, and legends about the Pleiades. The constellation of Orion can be seen from all over the world. For millennia, diverse Cultures have associated the constellation with the image of a male hunter hero god with a similar name.
